The Dot Chaser is a PT2399 based envelope optical modulator, "simulating" dusty cassette heads and worn out tape. This pedal can also cover light gain overdrive due to the internal LM386 power amp, as well as subtle chorus sounds.

Equipped with four controls:

  • Mix - Dials in amount of wet signal from Delay chip.
  • Lag - manipulates the single repeat delay time
  • Warp - controls the amount of modulation from the LDR network.
  • Vol - Master Volume Control

"more" switch toggles between resistance in the LDR network allowing more intense or drastic modulation.

The sensitivity of modulation achieved is based on input level. Weak signals may not open the envelope.

Suggested Pairings:

The Dot Chaser works really well before or after a really lush chorus, it adds an extra touch of modulation, as well as the perfect amount of grit and unpredictability. If placed at the beginning of your chain, try turning the "Mix" control all the way down and use it as an Overdrive.

By placing it at the end of your chain, give every pedal before it that unpredictable nauseating warble. The Dot Chaser works really well with Phasers before it for a really psychedelic rock sound. Another great application I've found is turning down the "Warp" control, and using the single delay repeat as a way to add movement or texture to a fuzzed out lead riff!
